I arrived from Africa with no common language, no family, and nowhere to go. Twenty years later, I am a college graduate two times over, a professional aircraft mechanic, and a man with a passion for bringing Africans and African-Americans closer together. In my first published work, Another Chance Maybe the Last, I explore the complex issues and strained relationships between people of the African diaspora and offer hope and solutions for restoration.
In my second published work, The Adventures of Bamo, readers meet fictional characters, Diaka and Bamo Toure. The mother and son’s story begins in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and then takes readers on an immersive journey through small village life in Oume, Africa to urban life in the United States.
Although not autobiographical, Bamo’s story is not much different from my own. I arrived in the United States with nothing but my dreams. After many difficult years in Harlem, New York, I registered for a G.E.D program. After which, I failed the college entrance exam twice before finally passing. I started college in January of 1994 and graduated from the College of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Airport, in Queens, New York. In 1997, I became a federal, licensed, aircraft mechanic and began my career with United Airlines.

I believe my passion for writing African fiction and non-fiction stemmed from childhood. Storytelling is a rich part of my culture. I hope to entertain and educate readers through complex characters and interesting stories that portray a realistic and hopeful journey.  I’ve been told offering hope is my special gift. I look forward to sharing many books with readers and pray Mother Africa comes alive through my writing, not just for African readers, but for readers from around the world who desire to know about my beautiful homeland, it’s people, and culture. I encourage all to visit the continent. It’s an exciting experience you won’t soon forget.
